# MSVCP140.dll or another .dll was not found

> Startup error on a stripped Windows: which component to put back and where to get it

> The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

The same box can name `VCRUNTIME140.dll` or `VCRUNTIME140_1.dll`.

    Take x64 even if other Visual C++ versions are already installed.

  <Step title="Install it">
    Run the downloaded file and wait until it finishes.

  <Step title="Restart the computer">
    Then start SoundCloud Desktop.

<Warning>Do not download single DLL files from websites and do not put them in the app folder. Reinstalling the app will not help either.</Warning>
